Hello! My name is Joshua Chan, and I am an alumni of Christian Coach Institute. I also have earned my Certified Professional Life Coach certification. I am passionate about helping people build and maintain meaningful, thriving relationships with others who do not share their worldviews or values. I help my clients become more mindful of their words, emotions, and priorities so that they can engage in challenging conversations in a way that minimizes frustration and stress.
I was raised in a very polarized environment, with an atheist father and a Christian mother. While I attended church with my mother each week, my father would frequently challenge my belief with difficult questions, like “If God is all-powerful and loving, why is there so much evil and suffering in this world?” or “If science can explain everything, do you still need God?” I came out of that environment with two important gifts: my Christian faith, and a great deal of experience in communicating effectively with people who have beliefs and values that differ from mine.
After graduating from the University of Texas, I worked for two years as a campus minister with Epic Movement, an Asian-American campus ministry committed to respectful dialogue between people who hold a variety of worldviews. Afterward, I spent time as a young adult intern minister, an Uber driver, and a personal fitness trainer. All of these jobs further refined my ability to communicate with and motivate people, resolve conflict, and cultivate positive relationships. Now that I am a Certified Professional Life Coach with the Christian Coach Institute, I am excited to help others who also want to build community with people from all backgrounds.
